Our story
How it all started.
As a black woman, I struggled a lot with trying to find products that cater to my skin. Growing up in America as a plus-sized immigrant was a very big struggle for me because of the peer pressure in school. In my home country, having body hair is not frowned upon, it is actually seen as beautiful, unlike here. I gave into the pressure of shaving, which came with chafing thighs that caused constant, painful ingrowns and hyperpigmentation.
Nothing was working for my problems and we did not have insurance to see a dermatologist, so I learned to cope with these bumps by covering up and just letting it be until they went away on their own. Up until I turned 18 I was still struggling with this problem constantly and conventional products were just not working for me.
Due to that, I started looking into alternatives to mainstream products and started to do a multitude of research and experimentation to see what would work for me. With the birthday money I received on my 18th, I bought ingredients in bulk to keep my skin where it needed to be.
I cut off all conventional products and started using my own and somewhere after seeing immaculate results, I decided that I shouldn’t keep this to myself. On a whim, I decided I was going to start a business.
I’ve always big on helping others with their skin by posting tips to get their skin clear because I knew what it was like to be judged by something you can’t control. Although I thought I was helping, I was not thinking about what chemicals were in those products or what they could do the skin overtime.Â
